DMPK Services Overview
At BioDuro, we take a comprehensive approach to drug discovery and development. That’s why we offer a wide range of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) services. Clients can choose from a selection of in vivo, in vitro, and bioanalytical testing strategies as part of the discovery process. These extensive testing options will help you develop safer, more predictable drug candidates and streamline the clinical development process.
Some of the key DMPK services we offer include:
DMPK Services: End-to-End Preclinical Capabilities
BioDuro provides DMPK services through its unique position as a global CRDMO supporting new drug discovery, development, and commercial manufacturing. With seamless internal collaboration with medicinal chemistry, discovery biology, pharmacology, and formulation development teams, our DMPK services cover various in vitro and in vivo assays to evaluate the ADME and PK properties of drug candidates during lead finding and optimization, subsequently PCC nomination and IND-enabling for a wide range of modalities including small molecule, peptide, protein, ADA and biomarker. We can evaluate preclinical ADME, PK/TK and PK/PD properties with in vitro and in vivo studies and turnaround times as fast as 5 days.

Q&A
Why are DMPK studies essential in drug development?
DMPK studies help pharmaceutical companies better understand how their drug candidates will perform in the body, making them an essential part of the discovery stage when developing new products. These studies assess a range of pharmacokinetic properties to learn more about how the body reacts to the target substance. This data helps pharmaceutical companies create safe and effective new products.
How do ADME and DMPK studies differ?
ADME is a specific sub-category of DMPK studies. ADME studies focus on absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion. DMPK studies outside of the ADME category explore dosage amounts and timing. This can also include additional safety testing.
What does DMPK testing typically include?
DMPK testing typically includes a mix of in vivo and in vitro testing, and can also include bioanalytical services. The exact tests can be customized based on the specific substance and your goals. In vivo testing is conducted using living organisms. We offer in vivo studies in rodents like mice, rats, and hamsters, as well as larger animals like rabbits, dogs, and monkeys. In vitro studies are conducted in a controlled laboratory environment with microorganisms, usually using petri dishes or test tubes. Bioanalytical testing is more complex and uses specific instruments to measure qualities like metabolic stability and concentration. All three testing methods are used to determine how the drug performs in specific scenarios, or how it reacts with other substances.
How can DMPK enhance my drug development program?
DMPK supports a comprehensive drug discovery program. It helps prepare your products for preclinical and clinical development, ensuring that substances are safe and compliant.
What are the typical turnaround times for DMPK studies at BioDuro?
Exact turnaround times for DMPK studies can vary depending on the specific substance being tested and the complexity of the studies. In many cases, we’re able to offer turnaround times as fast as five days, although some studies may take longer. As a global organization with multiple operational facilities, we’re able to start testing right away, so there’s generally no waitlist for new clients.
Are BioDuro’s facilities compliant with current regulations?
Yes, all of our facilities are compliant with current global pharmaceutical regulations. We have two AAALAC-accredited vivarium facilities. Operations are compliant with standards from the FDA, Chinese NMPA, and other key regulations worldwide.
