Executive Director of Biology

Key activities: Oversee biology-related research and drug discovery activities to execute departmental strategies and meet deliverables. The selected candidate will also be responsible for biology resource allocation, recruitment and the professional development of biology staff.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in biology, cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, virology, pharmacology or a related field with an outstanding scientific track record
- More than 15 years of drug discovery experience in drug discovery target identification, lead identification/optimization and clinical candidate selection/development; biomarker research experience is a plus

Key activities: Play a critical role in preclinical research on metabolic disorders including obesity/diabetes and dyslipidemia; set up disease models, develop the related analytical assays in studying the pharmacodynamic effects of the drugs/compounds in these disease research areas. Successful candidate is also responsible for designing studies, performing experiments, summarizing data and writing study reports in both English and Chinese.

This position is responsible for contributing to biology projects as a member of the high-performance biology team in BioDuro’s R&D center in Beijing, China. Key activities include establishing stable cell lines of different receptors and running biochemical and functional assays using the cell lines.

Scientist/Senior Scientist in Electrophysiology
(Location: Beijing)
The successful candidate will join our research efforts to develop and understand the electrophysiological actions of ion channel inhibitors. He/she is responsible for screening compounds against heterologously expressed or native ion channel targets (e.g. hERG) from excitable cells (e.g., cardiac, HEK293) using patch-clamp techniques. In addition to patch-clamp electrophysiology assays and research, he/she is responsible for maintaining cell cultures, method development, data analysis and presentation, as well as writing technical reports and original manuscripts.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in physiology, biophysics or pharmacology with ion channel research experience, or a master’s degree with in-depth electrophysiology experience
- Patch-clamp methodology and primary cell culture experience is required
- Automated patch-clamp system experience is preferred
- Experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical company is beneficial but not required
- Knowledge of common laboratory instruments, general lab procedures and software used for electrophysiological experiments is required
